Terms & Conditions

Therapy Ts&Cs

At some point most of us face suffering or a crisis so intense that life feels unmanageable. Speaking openly with someone outside your personal circle who listens attentively and non judgementally to your concerns can not only provide relief but also enable you to discover new perspectives, leading to both acceptance and change.

Therapy is not only for times of crisis: at other times therapy can offer a stimulating and challenging space for personal development, growth and exploration, to transformative effect.

Whatever brings you to therapy, our sessions can carve out the space required to explore in depth what you are going through in your life. If you choose to work with me, I will (through questions, empathy and reflections) support you to make sense of your experiences and identify new possibilities for change.

Everything shared with me in therapy sessions is treated with strict confidence. It will not be discussed elsewhere except under the rare circumstances outlined in the confidentiality section of these terms and conditions.

Set out below you will find detailed information on how our sessions will work.

Therapy Agreement

This agreement sets out the practical details and boundaries of our work together. Its purpose is to provide a clear and supportive framework that helps protect the integrity of the therapeutic space.

This agreement is between Imogen Parry (Therapist) and (Print Your Name) _______________________________________________ (Client).

The Therapist abides by the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of the BACP Ethical Framework, copies of which are available upon request.

Sessions and Commitment

We have agreed to start out working fortnightly.

Sessions are usually held at a regular time that we agree upon together. Each session lasts 50 minutes. This time is reserved for you and is not offered to others. If you are running late, I would appreciate you sending me a brief email to inform me.

We set out to work together for 6 sessions. After 6 sessions we have a review, at which point we can decide if we want to work with each other in a more open ended way.

Online work

Online sessions will only go ahead with both parties in a private room. This is part of confidentiality, which is vital to the therapeutic process. Each device must be placed on a stable surface not held- in my experience this supports each of us to focus and work at depth.

Planned Absences

For the optimal therapeutic outcome it is very important that we meet regularly each week. If you are unable to attend a session, I ask for as much notice as possible.

Planned absences (such as holidays or travel) can be taken for up to six weeks per year (pro rata for part of the year) so long as you give me as much notice as possible. I will try to give you at least 4 weeks notice and I ask for you to do the same. The minimum required notice for planned absences is one week.

If you are away for more than six weeks in total across the year (or pro rata for part of the year), any additional missed sessions will be charged —regardless of notice-unless we have explicitly agreed otherwise.

If you anticipate needing a longer break, I encourage us to speak about it in advance so we can consider how best to support the continuity of the therapy

Cancelled or missed sessions

Sessions cancelled or missed with less than 48 hours notice will be charged in full, regardless of the reason, as the time has been set aside specifically for you.

Fees and Payment

We have agreed to a fee of £80

Payment is due weekly, at least 1 working day in advance of each session, and should be made by bank transfer to the following account:

Confidentiality

Our work together is confidential. I will not share any information about you with a third party unless I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or if I am legally required to do so. Wherever possible, I will discuss this with you first and seek your consent.

As we may live in the same area of London, there’s a chance we could see each other in public. To protect your confidentiality, I won’t acknowledge you unless you choose to do so first.

Please know this isn’t intended to be dismissive or unfriendly—it’s simply a way to safeguard your privacy.

In line with BACP requirements, I receive regular clinical supervision where I may speak about aspects of our work. Your identity is not revealed in this process, and supervision is itself a confidential space.

Any records I keep are stored securely and handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and current GDPR guidelines.

Personal Information

I ask that you provide your current address, and the any details for medical providers in your place of residence.

Please let me know if these details change. This information is kept confidential and only for the duration of our work together. It will be securely deleted once our therapy ends.

Ending

A rich inner process can emerge when you choose to end therapy. For this reason, I ask that we discuss our ending and decide together on a time frame that feels right for us. I will never prevent you from leaving should you wish to end immediately, but it is a strong recommendation to spend a few sessions with what emerges.

General & Complaints

I will work with you under UK law. Any claims must be dealt with in the UK. UK law and jurisdiction will apply. I abide by the BACP’s ethical framework and professional conduct procedures. If at any time a cause for complaint arises that cannot be resolved between us, you may have recourse to the BACP Independent complaints procedure.
